Reinsve is phenomenal at portraying a beautiful level of sincerity. There’s a delicate honesty to her emotional responses to the actions of others around her that makes her grief resonate.  Reinsve is superbly supported by a breakthrough performance from Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, a distinct turn from Elle Fanning but most notably a compassionate portrayal of absent father, Gustav Borg, from Stellan Skarsgård. A role that Skarsgård has expressed identifiable similarit...

Wuthering Heights

UK Release Date:  13 February 2026 Director:  Emerald Fennell Cast:  Hong Chau, Martin Clunes, Owen Cooper, Jacob Elordi, Shazad Latif, Charlotte Mellington, Ewan Mitchell, Amy Morgan, Alison Oliver, Margot Robbie Runtime:  136 mins Rating:  ⭐⭐ ⭐ ½   Review: Throughout Emerald Fennell's Wuthering Heights there is a sonic presence felt, both from the soundtrack and the score. Off the back of cultural phenomenon, BRAT , Charli xcx writes and performs the film's original music. A complete career shift, reinventing herself for this companion album. A strange mix of gothic vocals and pop heavy instrumentation that somehow matches the tone of the film. There's an angelic and transcendent quality to the tracks  Dying for You , Chains of Love and Open up , used expertly within the narrative. An ever-present element carried through to Anthony B. Willis' ethereal score.  Not only is Wuthering Heights audibly accomplished but also a breathtaking piece of ...

UK Release Date:  17 November 2023 Director:  Emerald Fennell Cast:  Jacob Elordi, Richard E. Grant, Barry Keoghan, Archie Madekwe, Ewan Mitchell, Carey Mulligan, Alison Oliver, Rosamund Pike, Paul Rhys Runtime:  131 mins Rating:  ⭐⭐ ½   Review: Within the first 45 minutes of Saltburn , Emerald Fennell delivers a  joyous breath of fresh air. Visually depicting the seemingly unreachable highs of student life at University before abrasively cutting to severely isolating lows. Subsequently, sweeping both the audience and characters off their feet by delivering a Summer of complete unadulterated freedom. A fervour of emotion, audibly anchored by a generation of formative indie rock bands - Arcade Fire, Bloc Party and MGMT amongst others. A film fitting for the period of life it occupies.   A large aspect of what initially makes Saltburn a euphoric experience is its technical quality. Linus Sandgren, of Babylon and La La Land , brings a dreamlike sur...

Marty Supreme

Image
UK Release Date:  26 December 2025 Director:  Josh Safdie Cast:  Odessa A'zion, Sandra Bernhard, Timothée Chalamet, Fran Drescher, Abel Ferrara, Koto Kawaguchi, Kevin O'Leary, Tyler Gregory Okonma, Gwyneth Paltrow, Géza Röhrig Runtime: 150 mins Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ ½ Review: Marty Supreme , a vessel for Timothée Chalamet to flex his development as an actor over the past decade. An undeniable force both on and off the screen. An outlandish performance energised by his unfiltered swagger. Playing a character, in Marty Mauser, that is undeniably self-centred and indulgent, wired to the point it almost becomes off-putting to watch. Yet, Chalamet somehow manages to play the role with a level of genuine sincerity. An obsessed performer that is doomed from the start, the crowning work of his career to date.  The inventive title card of Marty Supreme , sets the tone for what follows in the remaining runtime. Transitioning from a lively sex scene into a visual depiction of ...

UK Release Date:   09 January 2026 Director:  Chloé Zhao Cast:  Joe Alwyn, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, Jessie Buckley, Jacobi Jupe, Noah Jupe, Olivia Lynes, Paul Mescal, Emily Watson Runtime:  126 mins Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ ½ Review: Wide, open landscapes that linger on-screen depicting the harmony between performances and camerawork. Łukasz Żal’s sublime cinematography working in collaboration with Chloe Zhao’s patient direction to craft a simply gorgeous film. The scenery is allowed to sink in, sorrow and despair hidden within the dense forests.   A sentiment shared by Max Richter and his classically composed score. It seems vastly ambitious as both the score and story expand, almost as if there’s a new found sense of discovery after every cut to black.  Plucks of the harp creating a distinct and differentiating sound compared to the familiar strums of the violin . An angelic sound as his score  forgoes  instrumentation for a lone, delicate voice...

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

Image
UK Release Date:   14 January 2026 Director:  Nia DaCosta Cast:  Ralph Fiennes, Erin Kellyman, Emma Laird, Chi Lewis-Parry, Connor Newall, Jack O'Connell, Alfie Williams Runtime:  109 mins Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ Review: If 28 Years Later explored death - the consequences that follow its finality and the understanding that death is an essential tool to express love - then  28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is a ruthless examination of cult dynamics. Drawing on characteristics and mannerisms from historical British personalities - a conspicuous expression of the exploitation of children by authoritarians, in the film's case, in ritualistic circles.  Alex Garland separately pits two completely opposing moral ideologies against one another leading to a brutal collision of differing worldviews.  Partially, a thoughtful dissection of admirable innate human qualities, partially, a damning demonstration of severe acts of barbaric hostility and ...

28 Years Later

UK Release Date:   19 June 2025 Director:  Danny Boyle Cast:  Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Christopher Fulford, Chi Lewis-Parry, Jack O'Connell, Edvin Ryding, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alfie Williams Runtime:  115 mins Rating:  ⭐⭐⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Review: Danny Boyle, off the back of a six-year directorial hiatus, wastes no time at all to push every conceivable boundary in 28 Years Later .  His self-obligation to seek technical innovation is triumphant.  Utterly absurd filmmaking - can't possibly fathom the level of experimentation involved in his production process.  Frantic, quick cuts, choppy editing and distorting frames manufacturing a bewildering viewing experience.  Sharing infected encounters in a similar manner to how natural wildlife would be captured. Sensational instances of infrared providing the barbaric perspective of the rage virus.  However, the decision to shoot 28 Years Later entirely on the iPhone 15 Pro Max is Boyle's boldest instan...
